Meet our Owner
Jessica was fortunate to have grandparents who grew plants and trees that made their way to the dinner table and her mother used home remedies to cure illness. Her upbringing led her on her own herbal journey that landed her at a school that taught herbalism. She earned her Masters in Herbalism and found her passion for healing and aphrodisiac herbs that bring connection and restoration to individuals and relationships.
From this passion, Aphrodite's Garden was born. A mission to connect people with what Mother Earth has to offer; to heal themselves and create connections with others!
My Story
As a little girl there were little things that my family and extended family did that left a lasting impression on me. It was in my paternal grandparent's home that I learned the nutritional and medicinal value of food and plants. My grandmother would always have a garden that rotated, but her staple plants were mint, basil, and tomatoes. I was sent daily to the garden to gather mint for her tea and basil for her cooking. I would then climb up on a stool and help her incorporate lots of herbs, fruits, and vegetables into her cooking.
In my maternal grandparent's home, I learned that a garden and food could fuel your heart and soul. My grandfather was an avid gardener for fun. The yard was full of flowers, tomatoes, and a huge apple tree that grew in the middle of the yard. Climbing the tree to harvest apples, then walking into a kitchen filled with the aroma of my mother and grandmother making various products is a smell and feeling I will never forget.
In my home growing up, my mother would utilize knowledge passed down from generation to generation on how to cure common illnesses. I was shocked when I learned not every household utilized common ingredients to heal quickly, but instead waited in pain for it to "go away" or seek medical intervention when it gets worse. When I had my own children, I incorporated what my mother taught me, along with looking for more homeopathic cures.
This search for knowledge landed me on the doorstep of an herbal school near my home. As soon as I walked into the shop, I felt like I was home. Surrounded by the energy, sight, and smell of herbs, I couldn't help but smile and feel my heart lift. I never wanted to leave and I soon signed up for their herbalism course. I completed my Masters in Herbalism in 2019 and I am forever grateful to the teachers who took me under their wing and taught me what they knew.
After my graduation from school, I began a journey to find out more about human connection, analyzed my own relationships, observed relationships of others, and studied what herbalism offers to help heal and promote connection in a healthy and Divine way. I hope that you enjoy the products that are a result of my journey.
